Spicing it up (cookbook giveaway)!

This post is an easy one – and fun too, because I’m giving away a signed copy of my latest cookbook, “You Won’t Believe It’s Salt-Free:  125 Healthy Low-Sodium and No-Sodium Recipes Using Flavorful Spice Blends ” to one random person who leaves a comment.

The easy part: To be entered, all you have to do is share which spice (besides salt) you either use the most in your recipes, or enjoy cooking with the most.  Hurry, the comment must be posted by 10.20.2012.

It’s that simple — just like the healthy, tasty and fabulous recipes you’ll enjoy from the book (like this Tuscan Bean Dip).

Good Luck!

If you just cannot wait to see if you are the winner, you can order your copy of “You Won’t Believe It’s Salt Free” from Amazon.com at http://amzn.to/TYVpuM ~ (KINDLE edition at http://amzn.to/QZzv6f).

Lately I’ve been using the heck out of my Rancho Gordo chili powder. But I always have a soft spot for coriander and cardamom.

Does garlic count as a spice? I dump that into just about everything :)

I’m a big fan of rosemary, dried and crushed peppers, basil and thyme.

  6. Chef Matt Says:

I’m trying to think which is my favorite, but I love cumin and coriander together when cooking southwestern food, but the Italian in me really loves to work with fennel seeds! (Garlic, obviously, goes without saying!) :)

My husband is on a low-sodium diet, so I love experimenting with spices and herbs and heating things up. My favorites are probably ginger and cumin, not necessarily blended together.

I use hot shot, a blend of black a red pepper in just about everything. But I also use nutmeg quite a bit. So many people don’t realize it’s better for something other than topping egg nog!

  13. Cat Says:

Garlic, cayenne, cumin, ginger, red chili, black pepper, coriander are spices I have to buy in bulk!

  14. nik Says:

Cinnamon is my favorite, especially on cashew butter and blueberry jam sandwiches. :)

I love the Sweet Curry Powder. You taught me to lightly dist a chicken fillet with Arrowroot and this great sweet curry powder from Penzys Spices and it’s my favorite go-to spice.

  16. Joan Says:

Cumin or thyme, depending on my mood. Unless I’m making split pea soup in which case the only choice is caraway!

  17. Patti Bright Says:

I love cinnamon in so many things. I also love McCormick’s grill mate seasoning roasted garlic & herb. I sprinkle that on anything from potatoes to porkchops. I’m also a big fan of basil…it gets sprinkled into all my soups, stews & stuffings.
